Residence Civico 3.9

A new light in the city centre

Effervescent, lively, elegant. A historic yet modern town. Castelfranco Veneto is characterised by certain aspects that make it unique in the Italian and Veneto panorama. First and foremost, its name, which derives from Castrum Francum in reference to the franchises granted to its inhabitants in exchange for the defence offered by the castle against the attacks of the Paduans; secondly, the red-brick city walls, among the most characteristic in the country; and finally, the centre, with its square (one of the oldest in the city with buildings dating back to the 16th and 17th centuries) named after Giorgione, the artist symbol of Castelfranco, of whom there is also a statue. And it is right next to the square that a modern residential area rises, in which the new Residence Civico 3.9 stands out.

Indoor and outdoor lighting for the new residence in the city centre.

The project by Studio Architetti Associati Giampietro & Stefano Cinel is based on the demolition of a pre-existing building and the construction of a new building with nine modern, exclusive and reserved flats, in class A4, with underfloor heating and cooling by heat pump, mechanical ventilation and room dehumidification systems, electric shutters to protect from the sun, a domotically controlled electrical system, and a photovoltaic system on the flat roof.

The idea pursued by the architectural studio was that of a revisited villa rather than the classic multi-storey apartment block that would have had a negative impact on the surrounding landscape. Deliberately, therefore, the volumetry was limited to just three levels, reserving a basement for the garage area. At the same time, large loggias and terraces were planned for all the flats, as well as large windows.

Particular attention was paid to the materials used (press-folded sheet metal to clad the façade, marble-effect cladding in the staircase entrance) and to the lighting project carried out in collaboration with the Linea Light Group design team, which involved both the building's outdoor and indoor areas of the common parts. The objective was to emphasise the residence not only in its complexity but also in its details, the only ones capable of making it truly recognisable in the panorama of neighbouring homes.

Outdoors, the outdoor lighting project saw the use of different solutions, such as the Portik downlight which, thanks to the optical group composed of a reflector with the innovative F.O.L.™ filter system for a homogeneous light projection, was installed in the porches and small outdoor terraces dedicated to the bedrooms. For the main terraces, on the other hand, the PU_C LED strip was preferred, which, like the Ribbon (used to create light effects in the entrance area of the building) lends itself to different types of application, satisfying all kinds of design needs. The MiniWhite applique was the preferred solution for the creation of suggestive scenographic effects at the entrance where three appliques were positioned for radiant lighting.

Great attention was also paid to the external area surrounding the building: a green area with cycle paths that required precise lighting such as that guaranteed by the Dirigo floor profile, walkable and with a source hidden from view, for grazing lighting with controlled luminance and total absence of glare. To illuminate the park in front of the building, Peak was chosen, the pole-head which, thanks to its wide variety of proposals, offers solutions capable of satisfying every type of design requirement.

Finally, for the parking spaces in the basement, the perimeter parking spaces and the main entrance, the preferred solution was Optiwall, the design wall light for the walkway areas that uses OptiLight technology, patented by Linea Light Group.

Inside the building, for the lighting of the common areas, next to the Ribbon LED strip used at the entrance for the creation of scenographic light effects, and next to the Rada downlights, placed in the hallway and on each floor for diffused light that does not dazzle thanks to the recessed optics, stands out a vertical cascade of TU-V, the suspension lamp with an essential design, almost a sculpture of light, which illuminates the environment and characterises it.

Lastly, the basement where the Box_W1 single-emission wall lamp with its elegant finish and sandblasted diffuser was chosen to illuminate the stairs, while for the parking area, High Protection was chosen, the linear design element with a high degree of protection against atmospheric agents thanks to its transparent polycarbonate tubular profile and the watertight closure system using rotating anodised aluminium side caps.
