Cantina Bottenago

In the atrium, which is washed in abundant natural lighting that filters through the large windows, Loro_R recessed downlights were installed on the underside of the walkways. For the empty area above the spiral staircase that leads to the basement level, which is home to a proper cantina and production area, a series of Tour_PD lights in various diameters were placed at different heights creating an emotional lighting installation. At the centre of the space, a circular fireplace with a bottle-shaped cowl and chimney is illuminated by Orma_IJ and Orma_I recessed projectors that cross over and connect each of the levels. As for the main sculptural staircase, just like for the spiral staircase, the organic shape is emphasised with Rubber 3D lights which were placed to fluidly follow the backbone of the staircase. 

In the two lateral wings, which are essentially free plan, the open space is articulated into multiple bays that are further demarcated with Rollip70_MC lights, the recessed flange version of the high quality linear lighting system. These lights are placed to highlight the corners of the lower beams, ultimately creating a sequence of luminous portals that, beyond simply offering sufficient diffused lighting, define the space and give it a unique rhythm, a space that is otherwise quite minimal in terms of the finishings and colour schemes used.
The second floor is the exception to this rule, as it is differentiated from the ground level and first floor, and is present in just one of the two wings. This space uses warmer, more intimate colours, with a lowered vaulted ceiling that elegantly interacts with a series of Tour_D lights, the doubled version of the Tour light, here with a gold finish and in two different diameters.

The lighting in the bathroom, with elegant, neutral tones, ensures privacy and visual comfort with the use of Cob40_R, a small, but highly efficient recessed spotlight, and Rubber 2D lights, hidden from view in the side mouldings of the suspended ceiling.

The basement level, which can be reached via the atrium by using the spiral staircase, features all of the essential functions of a cantina, including the production of the wine itself, the pulsing heart of such an operation, as well as tastings and presentations. The working area, with special spaces for large, temperature controlled stainless steel vats and raised service walkways, and the bottling area, are illuminated using Alux and Alux Pro lights, surface-mounted LED lights that fit perfectly into the space and its purposefully industrial appearance. Maxi Tube lights, tube-shaped polycarbonate LED lamps, were installed in the lower part of the service walkways to ensure a proper level of lighting. For each of the columns that mark the open area of the basement level, two Gardener projectors were installed, pointed towards the ground, to emphasise their height. 

The tasting area, which can also be reached directly from the garden using a straight staircase that rises along a wall decorated and lit with Vos_Ww, recessed downlights that offer versatile, high-performance wall lighting, is lit using the Gardener projectors, as well as Archiline_I and Xenia_A lights, linear recessed lighting chosen to define the perimeter of the area and the niches home to the basement windows, respectively. The RGBW version of each of these lights was chosen to give the space a unique characterisation in terms of colour as well. In the intentionally more evocative Barrel Cellar, under warm, red Archiline_I lights positioned around the perimeter of the room, the columns are exalted with the use of Rubber 3D_Optics lights, encircling the upper part of each column.
