Business center Action Development
A return to Soviet constructivism
The new Action Development business centre, housing executive and operational offices of several companies, is located near Moscow City, the largest business centre in the Russian capital, which comprises 22 residential and tertiary buildings with retail, office and multifunctional complexes. The ideal place to do business, but also to find entertainment and spend leisure time. The redevelopment project of the building, developed by the architectural firm UNK Project, focused on a very precise objective: to emphasise the building by making it immediately recognisable in the skyline. To this end, a perforated grid-shaped shell was created to enclose it entirely and refer to the progressive architecture of the 21st century and the model of Soviet Constructivism, with a clear reference to engineer Vladimir Shukhov's tower, designed at the end of 1922, with its hyperboloid, light and at the same time very strong structure.

The grid is a perforated metal frame that encloses the entire building, giving it a unique and easily recognizable appearance. The triangular, angular shape of the building was obviated by eliminating and rounding off the corners. The same feeling of lightness of the structure was maintained in the basement and entrance area through the creation of a canopy placed over the basement and supported by sloping columns arranged according to the overall design. If during daylight hours the building is enhanced by natural light reflecting off the metal grid made of white, for the evening hours it was necessary to find the most suitable lighting solution to ensure a dramatic effect. The lighting design studio QPRO opted for LED spotlights with narrow-beam optics, custom anti-glare and 3000K color temperature installed on the intersections of the metal grid and painted in the same RAL, so as to blend in perfectly and ensure accent lighting without glaring effect during night hours.
Periskop Narrow is the outdoor projector that, according to Linea Light Group's team, proved to be the best solution capable of fully enhancing the metal structure surrounding the building, especially during the evening hours.
More than 200 of them were installed, all equipped with a specially designed longer cable (1.3 metres each) to allow proper installation. Similarly, a very narrow 8° optic was used to ensure accent lighting that would best enhance the building as a whole. Finally, the 'eyelid' accessory mounted on each projector and made in the same RAL as the structure, to blend in perfectly during the day and ensure glare-free lighting at night.
