Church of the Assumption
More light in the rooms
The richness of the architecture and decoration is the first thing one notices when entering the Church of the Assumption. The right lighting starts from the attention to artistic and historical details, and above all to the functionality of the rooms that, if correctly lit, can create very evocative scenarios and at the same time support the moments dedicated to the rite. The interplay of indirect and accent lighting creates depth in the environment and guides the eye in contemplating and enjoying the spaces.

New technologies for ancient places
The protagonist of the lighting design is the indirect light produced by the Vuelta projectors positioned on the cornice that follows the central nave of the church. Against this backdrop of diffuse light, the other lighting bodies are grafted: Navata is used with 60° emission to illuminate the seats and with 40° optics to emphasise the coloured decorations of the central dome. A wider optic was chosen for the altar and side chapels to create indirect light in the background, combined with a narrow beam for accent lighting on the works. Navata_Focus is aimed at the crucifix inside the tabernacle for accent lighting. Xenia bars were used for the women's gallery and organ reading.
Evocative and functional lighting
The church of Santa Maria Assunta overlooks the Piazza Ducale in Sabbioneta and is the city's cathedral: it was built at the behest of Vespasiano Gonzaga in 1578 and was already consecrated in 1582, but took on its current appearance between 1769 and 1772 according to a design by Ferdinando Galli Bibiena. Inside, it boasts numerous works of art and fine workmanship by important artists and craftsmen of the time.
