Ekipe Sports Centre

A building with severe volumes, where materiality and geometries are highlighted by the light that follows its contours

The Ekipe multi-sports centre stands on the slopes of Mount Etna, in an urban area that has been forgotten for years, dense with buildings with typically 1980s structures, in an uneven urban context. The attempt at redevelopment has resulted in a majestic sports centre, with a wide variety of proposals within it: from swimming pools for water sports, to outdoor areas with football pitches, fitness rooms, relaxation and refreshment areas or entertainment for children. The entire work, with its square and severe lines, brings with it a strong, almost rough materiality, which contrasts aesthetically with the concept of hospitality and comfort typical of multi-sports and reception centres. The right light in fact knows how to unite the rigidity of architectural and interior design choices with the atmosphere of hospitality and warmth for anyone who loves movement and leisure.

Light blends perfectly with architecture

Many solutions from the Professional Lighting collection have been adopted. Thanks to the strips, it has been possible to easily light the junction areas, the perimeter areas of the rooms, and the stairwells, with linear effects that further define the geometric and square volumes; with Paseo and Rubber, it has been possible to manage particular installations flush with the walls and floor, giving character to the entire architecture, while the Techo67 spotlights, used in the corridors, contribute to the general lighting.

Talking about the Architectural Lighting collection, on the other hand, several products have been used that are also conceptually designed to blend in with the entire architecture: Fylo_Outdoor, used for the pool and changing room areas, allows for general lighting while maintaining the linearity of the light seen in the other rooms. In continuum with the geometric appeal, but almost in contrast with the rigour of the building, in the refreshment area we find Pool, almost playing with circles on the ceiling, and in the playroom for the little ones Orient, which animates the spaces with lightness and variability.
