CHQ Building – The Vaults
A shared space for start-ups and digital youths is housed in the historic building known as Stack A on the banks of the River Liffey.
The CHQ building was built in 1820 as a wine, whiskey and tobacco warehouse, with vaulted basements where the precious bottles were stored. The renovation and refurbishment of the building has given rise to several venues including EPIC (The Irish Emigration Museum), exhibition and event spaces, shops, cafés, restaurants and the digital hub DogPatch Labs. In fact, it is in the basement that the meeting rooms and workspaces of this young reality are located: DogPatch Labs acts as an accelerator for emerging start-ups and talents of the Irish tech-community, providing a location where they can grow and share their know-how with continuous and new connections.

New light among historic underground vaults
The atmosphere of the meeting rooms in the subterranean rooms is atmospheric: the historic stone masonry and ancient vaults blend with the modern design of the furniture, creating a stimulating and cosy working space. The vaults and walls of the rooms and corridors are illuminated with the Suelo uplight, which ‘washes’ the stone masonry, bringing out the strong materiality. The AquaStop™ system that protects the product from the humidity of the basement, the high luminous performance and the visual comfort guaranteed by the special anti-glare protective screen prove to be perfect features for installation in these particular spaces. Pound, on the other hand, is installed on the ceiling to illuminate the desks and tables of the meeting rooms and offices available, blending perfectly with the environment thanks to its essential and clean design.
