A new building that integrates into the countryside with low environmental impact
The Scatolificio Valtenna is one of the best known manufacturers of boxes, packaging and paper products in central Italy. Located in Fermo, the building integrates perfectly with the Marche countryside, in line with the company's philosophy, which has always been attentive to environmental impact and respect for nature. Hence the design of a building in harmony with the surrounding nature, with large windows, themed courtyards, built using mostly sustainable materials such as wood and glass: a project that immediately laid the foundations for a challenging but stimulating lighting study.

From the outset it became clear that the development of the lighting design would be challenging, both in terms of the materials used in the building and the architectural choices to be made. The wooden ceilings precluded recessed installations or holes for cables, the presence of large windows and the many video terminals in the offices required no glare and reflections; the study of daylight made it possible to define the artificial light in compliance with the regulations for office lighting and perfectly combined with the light of the external environment.
The lighting design of the Scatolificio Valtenna is the work of Lighting Designer Stefano Dall'Osso, with the technical support of Linea Light Group for the choice of products and for the customisation required by this demanding realisation. Fluorescent lamps with anti-glare darklight optics were specifically designed for direct lighting, while LED technology was used for indirect lighting. To preserve the wooden ceilings, a wall system was created from which the power supply is distributed. Among the products used, we find in the reception area the Baton pendant cylinders, which are installed in clusters above the counter to ensure good lighting at the point of operation, and at the same time, decorate with a dynamic product composition; the Outline modular lines have been used at regular intervals in the corridors and in the connection areas between different areas to emphasise the line of travel and evenly illuminate the passage; the Box wall lights emphasise, with their up & down light, the walls of meeting rooms and canteen areas with effect light, giving a decorative touch; while to continue with the geometric lines, the Ribbon stripLED enhances the profiles of the large staircase leading to the second floor. Finally, to meet the designer's requirements, numerous customised pendants have been created in the offices.
